Farmers in Damur Huda Upazila are ahead in using AWD (Alternate Wetting Drying) irrigation method in Rice cultivation

Prattasha Samazik Unnayan Sangstha (PSUS) is implementing the WSSEAP (Water Saving Safe & Sustainable Eco-Friendly Efficient Agriculture Practice) project in four unions within the Damur Huda Upazila of Chuadanga District.

The JFGE (Japan Fund for Global Environment) is providing financial support for the implementation of this project. The farmers in these four unions are being encouraged to cultivate rice using the AWD (Alternate Wetting Drying) method.

This method has been well received by the farmers, as it helps them save fuel, require less labor, and use less water, ultimately reducing costs without affecting the yield. However, proper training at the field level is crucial for carrying out irrigation operations using this method.
