Who we are

CCAANClimate Change Adaptive Agriculture Network

The Climate Change Adaptive Agriculture Network (CCAAN) aims to establish natural disaster resilient agriculture in Bangladesh. Through our netork, we promote sustainable agricultural practices that are resilient to climate change.
CCAAN works together with the public and private sectors to pursue effective and sustainable farming methods in the current climate change situation, where abnormal weather events such as powerful cyclones and long rains occur frequently.
CCAAN belive both the public and private sectors can bring back lots findings through the conferences. We offer and to develop unique tools for not only climate change adaptation but also mitigation, as well as supporting farmers. We believe that we can develop their own activities/strategies/methods and to strengthen food security in Bangladesh.

“Challenges and Objectives”

In Bangladesh which are said to be particularly affected by climate change such as global warming in recent years, which have the highest population density and arable area ratio in the world, the impact of abnormal weather on agricultural crops is becoming apparent and serious.

However, while there have been many studies and reports on climate change in Bangladesh, efforts to adapt to climate change practices and diffusion have been very sporadic and small. In addition, there is a lack of cooperation between administrative departments, and the government and NGOs are working on individual initiatives, and their knowledge is not shared. In addition, since there has been almost no academic exchange of agriculture between public and private sectors so far.Stakeholders who are working on the same issue will share activities and achievements and collaborate. By creating an environment,
we will consider and present a wide-ranging and adaptable way of agriculture adapted to climate change.

And also the negative impacts of human activities to natural environment are another component encouraging the effects of climate change. For instance, overuse of pesticide, fertilizers and irrigation water results in the low prductivity of crops.

Therefore, it is necessary to find the way to adapt climate change
and mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
